The preliminary activity schedule for the third annual Lakes and Trails Festival has been posted. The Festival takes place July 20, 9 am-2 pm in the Point Park, Sydenham, South Frontenac, Ontario.
Everyone is welcome. All events are free and take place/start in the Point Park off Wheatly Street in Sydenham. Donations are encouraged.
Come out; be active; bring your family and friends; and enjoy our lakes, trails and history.
Cycling
Around the Lake – 21K loop leaves 10:15, 32K loop leaves at 9:45, 44k loop leaves at 9:30.
Family Cycle 8k – out and back on the Cataraqui Trail – 10:00.
Cycle Skills Competition – three skill events: the Zig Zag, The Paper Route and the Slow Bike. Leader board and prizes – suitable for all ages from training-wheels to experienced bikers – 9:00 to 12:00.
Yellow Bike Repairs, Helmet Fitting -9:00 to 12:00.
Paddling
Try a canoe or kayak on Sydenham Lake – Frontenac Outfitters will have a variety of boats for the public to try paddling – 10:30 – 1 pm
Meet other paddlers and paddle the lake at your own pace – maps available.
Walking
Historic walk of Sydenham – go at your own pace on the two-kilometre route with interpreters – start at The Point. anytime 10:30-1 pm.
Group walk with the Sydenham walkers to Harrowsmith and back – 11 kilometres, starts at 9 am, leaves Harrowsmith for return at 10:30.
Music
Gary Raspberry – Children’s performer – 11:00 the Point.
Concert in the Park – noon to 2 pm.
Community Lunch – Prepared by South Frontenac Community Services – 12:00 to 1:30. Free, donations appreciated.
Booths, children’s games, turtles and amphibians, and more activities – 9:00 to 2:00 on the Point.
Anytime, self -supervised activities: swimming at the Point, walking the Cataraqui and K+P trials, Frontenac Park, and Gould Lake Conservation Area; cycling trails and quite country roads (maps available).
